The 7 Chakras: How Reiki Balances Your Energy.

When people ask me what Reiki is, I often tell them: Reiki is the art of reminding your energy how to flow. It’s not about forcing, fixing, or guessing—it’s about gently guiding your body back to the balance it already knows.

One of the most beautiful aspects of Reiki is how naturally it works with the chakras—the seven main energy centers of the body. Over the years, I’ve placed my hands over countless chakras and witnessed clients shift from restless to calm, from blocked to radiant, from “off” to glowing. Each chakra tells its own story, and Reiki listens deeply.

Let me walk you through the seven chakras as I experience them in practice, and how Reiki restores their natural harmony.

1. Root Chakra – Muladhara

Location: Base of the spine
Colour: Red
Theme: Safety, stability, belonging

The Root Chakra is where everything begins. When I place my hands near the lower spine or at the feet, I can often feel whether someone’s energy is grounded. Sometimes it feels scattered, like a buzzing that can’t quite settle. After Reiki flows here, there’s usually a noticeable shift—clients often describe feeling heavier in the best way, like they’ve finally landed in their own body.

A balanced root chakra shows up as steadiness: anxiety quiets, fear softens, and a sense of “I am safe” returns.

2. Sacral Chakra – Svadhisthana

Location: Just below the belly button
Colour: Orange
Theme: Creativity, pleasure, flow

The Sacral Chakra holds so much of our joy and emotional movement. When it’s blocked, the energy here can feel stagnant, as if it’s stuck in a holding pattern. During Reiki, I often notice warmth and subtle waves as this chakra begins to open.

Clients frequently leave with a sense of lightness and playfulness. They tell me they feel more connected to their emotions and more open to pleasure—whether that’s in art, relationships, or simply enjoying life again. Reiki helps this chakra remember how to flow like water.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura

Location: Upper abdomen
Colour: Yellow
Theme: Confidence, willpower, personal power

When I rest my hands over the solar plexus, I can often sense the state of someone’s inner fire. If it’s dim, the energy feels low and heavy, reflecting self-doubt or exhaustion. When it’s overactive, it can feel fiery, almost restless.

Reiki balances this energy so the fire burns steadily rather than fizzling or raging. Clients describe leaving sessions with a renewed sense of motivation, clarity, and confidence. They’re ready to act—not out of pressure, but from authentic inner strength.

4. Heart Chakra – Anahata

Location: Center of the chest
Colour: Green
Theme: Love, compassion, forgiveness

The Heart Chakra is often the most tender place I work. Here I encounter grief, old hurts, and walls people didn’t even know they were holding. When Reiki flows through the heart chakra, I can feel the energy soften, expand, and lighten.

Clients sometimes release with tears, sometimes with deep sighs, sometimes with radiant smiles. Almost always, there’s a palpable shift—a reminder that love, compassion, and connection are still alive inside them. Reiki doesn’t force the heart open; it simply helps it remember it’s safe to open again.

5. Throat Chakra – Vishuddha

Location: Throat
Colour: Blue
Theme: Expression, truth, communication

The throat chakra is all about voice and authenticity. In sessions, I sometimes feel blockages here as tension or a tightness in the energy. Reiki gently clears that space, and it’s not unusual for clients to experience yawns, swallowing, or even sudden clarity about something they’ve been holding back.

After a session, many clients tell me they feel freer to speak honestly—with themselves and with others. Reiki reminds this chakra that their voice matters, and that truth spoken with love is healing.

6. Third Eye Chakra – Ajna

Location: Between the eyebrows
Colour: Indigo
Theme: Intuition, clarity, wisdom

The Third Eye chakra is like the lighthouse of our inner guidance. When energy is clouded here, people often feel confused, indecisive, or disconnected from their intuition. During Reiki, I often sense a gentle pulse or cool clarity in this area as it begins to balance.

Clients frequently share that after Reiki, their thoughts feel clearer, their intuition stronger, and their perspective expanded. Some even describe vivid visuals or insights during the session itself. Reiki clears the fog so the inner vision shines again.

7. Crown Chakra – Sahasrara

Location: Top of the head
Colour: Violet or white
Theme: Connection, spirituality, wholeness

The Crown Chakra connects us to something greater—whether you call it the universe, source, God, or pure consciousness. In Reiki, this chakra often feels like a soft expansion, as if the energy is lifting upward and opening.

Clients describe sensations of peace, tingling, or a deep stillness. Some say they feel more connected to their spiritual path; others simply leave with an unshakable calm. Reiki brings this chakra into balance by reminding us that we are never separate—we are always part of a greater whole.

How Reiki Brings the Chakras Together

Each chakra has its own qualities, but they’re never truly separate. They’re connected like beads on a string, or instruments in an orchestra. If one is out of tune, the whole song feels off. Reiki doesn’t force alignment; it supports the natural intelligence of the body to bring itself back into harmony.

In sessions, I witness the energy shifting on its own. The body and spirit know what they need. Reiki simply provides the gentle current of life force energy that allows the chakras to open, balance, and flow together again.

Why Chakra Balance Feels So Transformative

When chakras are balanced, life feels different. People often tell me after Reiki that they feel grounded yet uplifted, peaceful yet energized. Their minds are clearer, their hearts are lighter, and their intuition feels alive.

I’ve seen clients walk in with stress etched across their faces and leave glowing, with softened shoulders and brighter eyes. That’s the power of balanced energy—it doesn’t just heal; it restores wholeness.

A Gentle Reminder

Your chakras don’t need to be perfect. Life naturally ebbs and flows, and so does energy. Reiki is here not as a one-time “fix,” but as a gentle support to keep your inner system flowing freely. Think of it as an energy tune-up, helping you return to your natural state of balance.

As a Reiki practitioner, I can tell you this with certainty: your energy wants to heal, your chakras want to flow, and your spirit already knows the way. Reiki is simply the reminder.

So whether you’re curious about Reiki or already love it, remember this: your chakras are not abstract concepts—they’re living energy centers responding every day to how you live, love, and grow. When supported by Reiki, they shine like the seven lights of your inner rainbow.

And when they shine, you shine.

Love and Light,

Stefania
